Offer: Strategic Projects Manager:Job description:Job location: Oxford income: Grade 8: £42,149 - £50,296 p.a. The Kennedy Institute is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientific professional with proven writing and project management skills to join the Institute as Strategic Projects Manager. This is a key function to support the Institute Director with the implementation of science strategy to increase the visibility and impact of the Institute. As part of the Institute's Senior leadership abilities Team, the Strategic Projects Manager will apply their broad practice in research management and science administration to assist in the identification and definition of strategic priorities for the Institute, helping to shape projects and coordinate their implementation. You will focus on supporting the Director and Head of Operations in the delivery of the Institute's strategic plan that underpins the relationship with the major funder of the Institute, the Kennedy Trust for Rheumatology Research. You will work to ensure the Institute is proactively positioned for scientific collaboration, external funding and industry partnerships. This will include working with the Institute's Principal Investigators and the Department's communications team to ensure the Institute's scientific strengths, research goals and successes are captured through its communications channels, such as the Institute website and social media. This interesting and varied function offers an opportunity to work with researchers, funders and collaborators with interests spanning basic biology to translational research, experimental medicine and clinical trials. You will display a flexible approach with a availability and skills to support and advise on a wide variety of issues, for example related to funding opportunities, scientific development and outputs, communications, and research culture. You will work with the Institute's Principal Investigators (PIs) to develop an knowledge of current and future research, with an capability to exercise sound judgement on the significance of research for a range of audiences. You must be highly organised and proactive, with both an eye for detail and the capability to represent the Institute at senior levels. A biomedical background with substantial knowledge of the UK research funding landscape is required as well as practice of science writing including editing the work of others. This is a permanent position and is full-time, though applications to work part-time (min. 0.8 FTE) will also be considered. The closing date for applications is midday on Thursday 15 September 2022.
