Sociology is one of four academic disciplines within the School of Sociology and Social Policy, the others being criminology, public & social policy, and social work. The disciplines share a core commitment to social justice, and the interplay between disciplines creates a vibrant environment for robust academic debate, research innovation and the delivery of high-quality research-led teaching.

The School, and Sociology, is going through a period of development and We are seeking for an enthusiastic and practiced scholar to join the Sociology team. The prosperous applicant will have a proven track record of personal achievement and collegial leadership abilities across research, teaching, and academic administration/leadership abilities/management.

You will be expected to make a significant contribution to research, teaching and leadership abilities within the Sociology team and across the School. This will include: involvement in planning and delivering the high-quality education we provide for both UG and PGT students; involvement in high-quality research, including securing external research funding, publishing in esteemed outlets, and contributing to expertise exchange and research impact activities; involvement in leadership abilities and management, including providing support to early career academics, serving on School and Faculty committees, and leading on initiatives designed to support identified priorities.
