H2 (£35,333 - £42,155 per annum plus £2,166 per annum London Weighting)
Term time, Permanent 44 weeks
We are pursuing for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team in the dual function of a specialist study expertise tutor (SST) to support students with Specific Learning Difficulties and a discapability agent (DO) to help the university develop its inclusive teaching and learning strategy.
The SST function is to deliver one-to-one support and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning and develop their expertise.
In the DO function, you will be acting as an inclusive learning champion for the Student Wellbeing department. This will entail being part of the bigger Brunel strategy that aims at making the delivery of lessons more inclusive and therefore, minimise the need for reasonable adjustments. The DO will be working in conjunction with our specialist advisors and will be referring cases to them as appropriate. The DO will be providing recommendations to non-specialist staff working all over the university with disabled students and/or staff to establish overall a more inclusive educational setting (or environment?).
Qualified to degree level and holding a significant teaching qualification, the prosperous applicant must have an OCR qualification (or equivalent) in SpLD support and have expertise of the range of study support that students with Specific Learning Difficulties require in Higher Education.
You will need to hold a professional membership of one of the following organisations: PATOSS (full or associate membership), BDA (full professional membership), ADSHE (professional membership) or Dyslexia Guild (member, associate or fellow membership). You will also have strong organisation abilities together with excellent time management and record keeping expertise.
This post is sessional - there are no guaranteed minimum hours. Hours may vary each week.
This position does not meet the University criteria for Skilled Worker sponsorship
Brunel University London is fully committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive workforce culture. We support flexible working. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and communities, we particularly welcome candidates who are currently under- represented in our workforce.
