The Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery is being established at the University of Oxford in 2022. It will draw on and consolidate the world-leading skills of the University and its partners to address the challenge of delivering effective and socially inclusive nature recovery at scale, in order to support goals of reversing national and global biodiversity decline by the end of this decade. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious research and engagement programme on a timely and high-profile environmental issue - the challenge of reversing biodiversity decline and implementing large-scale nature recovery. As Centre Manager your function will be to implement the research programme and management of the Centre.
You will support the directors in their overall responsibility for leadership abilities of the initiative and contribute to the strategic direction. You will maintain and develop project management and communication mechanisms across the initiative's five work packages, including the budget, annual operational plans, risk register, monitoring & evaluation framework and data strategy, keeping in regular contact with key initiative stakeholders. You will carry out financial modelling, working closely with the finance staff in significant academic departments in order to make recommendations on resource requirements to deliver the projects' tasks and to contribute to the long-term planning and strategies of the team. You will also manage, coordinate, and track the preparation of proposals to contribute to earnings development and sustained longer-term funding of the initiative. You will line-manage the Programme Administrator, Events and Communications Manager and Knowledge Exchange agent.
The success candidate will hold, or be near to completion of a Master's degree or higher or equivalent practice. You will have proven programme management skills including planning, delivering and monitoring. You will have excellent financial management skills with practice of budget administration, forecasting and reporting. The capability to build and manage good, collaborative working relationships at both an individual and institutional level, and spanning a range of cultures is essential. An evident passion for the natural world is a must. You will have an knowledge of key scientific and policy issues in biodiversity and nature recovery and excellent communication skills.
