Job Offer: Engineering Technician (Moulding) (106342-0822):Job description:Job location: Coventry Fixed term contract until 14/08/2023, 36.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick. The structural composites research group at WMG's Automotive Composites Research Centre (ACRC) are looking for talented and highly motivated support engineers to assist with the delivery of high-volume structural composite manufacturing solutions in close partnership with JLR and their selected industry partners. You will contribute to the recently announced £38m APC-funded ?TUCANA' project to drive the development of innovative lightweight vehicle structures. The project is delivering a step-change in automotive light-weighting capcapability within the UK supply chain by covering structural performance at a design, material and volume manufacturing-level. Structural carbon fibre composite components are being developed and manufactured in WMG's new Materials Engineering Centre using dedicated industry-leading facilities for composite and hybrid structures. You will need to have completed an Engineering Apprenticeship, HNC/ONC Engineering or similar qualification, and have significant practice in a related engineering discipline/environment. You should have practice of the setting and operation of industrial process machinery e.g. hydraulic presses, injection moulding equipment as well as the capability to source and solve errors on this equipment. practice of composite materials processing, or R&D within the automotive industry would be advantageous.
