An exciting opportunity has arisen for an adjunct Course Manager to join the busy International Courses and Projects team in the Department's Open Access Courses section.
The adjunct Course Manager (US University Programmes) is responsible for supervising a portfolio of residential courses for leading US universities and institutions, providing support for the student lifecycle on these courses from end-to-end. You will contact with colleagues in Oxford and the USA on the development and delivery of existing and new bespoke programmes of between one and six-weeks in length for undergraduates, postgraduates, alumni and professionals.
You will be expected to work all over the summer and to attend events for summer schools between June and September. Taking significant annual leave during the busy summer period is not normally possible. Work during the summer is likely to involve weekly everyday attendance at lunches, and at closing receptions and dinners on Friday evenings, registering student arrivals in college or at Rewley House on Sunday afternoons and participating in welcome addresses to students, attending welcome receptions and dinners on Sunday evenings, and arranging Saturday morning departures from Oxford. During the summer, you will be expected to contact on a everyday basis with resident US university representatives, principal tutors, programme directors, coursetutors, college conference teams, and summer school adjuncts to ensure the smooth running of each programme. Summer schools may run simultaneously in different locations.
You will have demonstrable prosperous practice of student administration within Higher Education or a similar environment, together with strong team work expertise, demonstrable practice of supervising staff, and excellent standards of accuracy. You will also have excellent communication expertise and the capability to prosperously convey detailed and complex information in a clear and understandable manner. You will need to demonstrate the capability to work with a significant degree of autonomy, as well as an capability to think innovatively and creatively to deal with complex problems.
Some expertise of the workings of the University of Oxford and expertise of the city of Oxford would be an advantage, together with practice of working with international students and overseas universities.
