Offer: Lecturer in Human Cardiovascular Physiology:Job description:Job location: Leeds Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in human cardiovascular physiology? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities? A major objective of our school is to drive advances in biomedical research to prevent and manage human disease. This ideal candidate will undertake translational research that links with our researchers investigating fundamental aspects of cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory physiology. This would suit candidates with research interests that may encompass (but not restricted to) areas such as cardiac remodelling caused by exercise training, age, disease states and connected conditions such as athletic heart syndrome and sudden cardiac death. The ideal appointee should have a PhD and research practice in Human Cardiovascular Physiology or an allied discipline such as Sport & Exercise Science, Cardiac Medicine or Clinical Exercise Physiology. You should also have skills in human cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and may have practice with related techniques such as near infrared spectroscopy, muscle biopsies and cardiac imaging. This post offers the opportunity to work closely with our computational cardiology team, the cellular/preclinical cardiovascular teams and the human movement research groups. We are seeking for candidates who can undertake human facing research taking advantage of our well-established collaborative links with colleagues in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and links with existing and new industry partners. The appointee would contribute to our undergraduate programmes across the school, specifically Human Physiology, Physical Activity and Health and Sport and Exercise Sciences, in addition to our postgraduate MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
