Offer: Data Scientist:Job description:Job location: Lowestoft The Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) is the UK's leading and most diverse centre for applied marine and freshwater science. we At Presentrank in the top 5% of over 2,500 international institutes publishing in the same fields. We advise government and private sector customers in the UK and abroad on the environmental impact of their policies, programmes and activities through our scientific evidence and impartial expert advice. The prosperous applicant for this function will work in the Data Science and Statistics team, along with colleagues with a wide-ranging mix of analytical expertise, providing technical input to current and future research programmes. You will be deploying image capture, processing, artificial intelligence, and statistical algorithms on large data sets, working from data capture, through analysis, to innovative methods of reporting. There is considerable scope to apply and expand your analytical expertise in the function with specific areas of application including automatically monitoring plankton, seabed fauna, fish catches, and marine litter. You will address research questions and support delivery on research projects, then contribute to project reports and peer-reviewed publications.
