The Business Improvement Unit (BIU) delivers both strategic transformational change and operational improvements across the LSE.
We have the opportunity for a Project Manager to join the BIU. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on improving how Academic Departments and Professional Services work, as well as enhancing the student practice. You will have the opportunity to work with stakeholders across all areas of the School including LSE Library, Research & Innovation (R&I) Division, Communications Division, Digital Technology Services (DTS), Finance Divisions and Academic Departments/Institutes and Research Centres/groups.
At the outset the postholder will support the delivery of projects that underpin the delivery of LSE 2030 through Priority 2: Research for the World, which aims to provide strategic change in research management and research resource in key areas and enabling world-class research across the breadth of the social sciences. They will support the transformation of the professional support infrastructure across the research and innovation lifecycle for the full range of internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates should have:
   » practice of providing leadership abilities and direction to a project team, demonstrating an capability to motivate with a clear vision of what is to be achieved.
   » A readiness to challenge the status quo and proactively identify and solve problems, including a availability to understand issues beyond the boundaries of the project.
   » Substantial practice in working across organisational boundaries leading and directing productive, multi skilled, cross functional project teams, including staff from diverse areas of the organisation and stakeholder management at senior management level.
   » Advanced organisational expertise including:
oPlanning and resourcing
oProject budgeting
oProgress reporting
oManaging issues and conflicts
oRunning meetings with stakeholders with varying expertise and communication styles
Exposure to research administration, grant management, research output information or open research systems in Higher Education would be advantageous.
