Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Civil Engineering:Job description:Job location: Huddersfield, Hybrid School of Computing & Engineering £38,560 - £43,374 per annum Permanent 1.0 FTE The School of Computing and Engineering is expanding its research and teaching portfolios into Civil Engineering and seeks to appoint a Lecturer to support the delivery of this new discipline. As part of its aim to build upon its success in the Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), the School is investing millions of pounds to grow this new activity in our research-intensive environment. Our new BEng/MEng course in Civil Engineering will take its first students in September 2024 and its first taught postgraduates a year later. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong track record in Civil Engineering research to contribute to our vibrant research community alongside development and delivery of the new academic provision. With a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, you will hold a significant professional qualification e.g. Chartered Engineer or be working towards Chartered status (Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, Institute of Highway Engineers, or Permanent Way Institution) with a requirement to gain Chartered status within 3 years. In addition, you will have a portfolio of research in one the following areas: - hydraulics or environmental engineering - structural engineering - geotechnical engineering - transportation You will also have practice of delivering undergraduate or postgraduate modules, effective communication and decision-making expertise and be committed to supporting the learning of students.
