The Chaplaincy Department at the University of Chester has an exciting opportunity to join our practiced Chaplaincy team, as our Muslim Chaplain, working 15 hours a week. Our Muslim Chaplaincy provision is well established, with excellent Muslim prayer rooms across sites, strong relationships with the Student Union and student societies (including ISOC), and with positive connections with local Muslim faith communities.
The postholder will join a supportive team led by our Senior Chaplain and with other part-time Chaplains from various faith backgrounds. Chaplaincy works in a highly collaborative way, connecting closely with professional services colleagues and academic departments to enhance the student practice across the University. Chaplaincy is actively involved in the welcome, induction and pastoral care of students, with a particular focus on supporting our international students.
Our multi-faith Chaplaincy team is located on the Exton Park campus in Chester and works across multiple sites in Chester and also Warrington. Chaplaincy aims to enhance the community life of students and staff through pastoral care and support, religion & belief support, and creative community-building through events and activities. This year these creative initiatives have included, leading a food growing Community Garden at Exton Park, working with drama students on a creative arts project, and leading community kitchen events that encourage students to cook and eating together.
We are seeking for someone with excellent communication expertise, who is committed to team working, has significant practice in pastoral care, and has a keen interest in building inter-faith relationships.
If you have any queries about the function then please do get in touch with Revd Dr Gill Reeve (Senior Chaplain), email g.reeve@chester.ac.uk.
Closing date: Midnight on 28th April 2024.
Interview date: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview on Wednesday 8th May 2024.
