A position exists, for a Research adjunct/Associate in spinal/brain neuroimaging and computational neuroscience in the Department of Engineering, to work on projects related to the neural processing and endogenous modulation of pain signals in the central nervous system.
The postdoc will be supervised by Dr Flavia Mancini and join the dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment of the Computational and Biological Learning group (https://www.cbl-cambridge.org/)
The post will be in Central Cambridge, UK.
The key responsibilities/tasks are:
   » Modelling/Analysing neural, neuroimaging or behavioural data
   » Ideating, designing and conducting neuroimaging/behavioural studies on statistical or aversive learning, using computational and neuroimaging research methods in humans
   » Dissemination of research findings (writing papers, presenting at lab meetings and conferences, public engagement)
   » Collaborating with others in research projects and being involved in the supervision of research student projects
   » Maintaining and developing methodological/ technical expertise to expand their scientific potential. The post-holder is expected to grow and develop in methodological expertise and theoretical knowledge during this post.
The expertise, qualifications and practice required to execute the function are:
   » Obtained (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, physics, mathematics, biology or related neuroscience field.
   » Obtained a master degree in a significant neuroscience, engineering, physics, biology or related field.
   » Quantitative background, with research practice in theoretical neuroscience and/or neuroimaging.
   » Demonstrable programming expertise/practice, able to analyse/model behavioral and neural data.
   » Specialist expertise in neuroimaging methods, from data collection to analysis are desirable (ideally fMRI).
   » Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications
   » Good organizational and project management expertise
   » capability to work both independently and as part of a team
   » Excellent communication expertise
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research adjunct level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD is awarded.
income Ranges:
Research adjunct: £29,605 - £33,966; Research Associate: £36,024 - £44,263
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2026 in the first instance.
