This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join a collaborative project which examines reparative justice in school education. The project is funded by the UKRI Frontier Research grant,Reparative Futures of Education (Repair-Ed), and is led by Professor Arathi Sriprakash.
The project involves collaborating with primary school-communities in the city of Bristol, England. Through participatory and qualitative methodologies, the project explores the features and mechanisms of structural inequities in education. The project facilitates dialogues with stakeholders (schools, their communities, policy-actors and the broader public) to explore how reparative justice in education might be conceptualised and enacted.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the post holder will be a member of the Repair-Ed research team with responsibility for the provision of research support. This includes: literature reviewing; compiling data summaries; qualitative data collection and analysis; and supporting the preparation of written outputs (e.g. peer-reviewed journal articles, non-academic research briefs, etc.). The function also involves supporting administrative and organisational tasks relating to: communications with stakeholders; workshop and meeting planning; and maintaining the project website.
The post-holder will be part of the Oxford University Department of Education. Fieldwork activity and community events take place in Bristol, which means the post-holder can be located there if preferred. The prosperous candidate will manage their research and administrative activities and collaborate with the project team. They will be responsive to stakeholder needs and expectations, facilitating research partnerships and opportunities for workshops and expertise-exchange. They will adapt and develop research methodologies and materials, and analyse qualitative data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining theories as appropriate.
This a part time function at 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE) and is fixed term for a period of three years. Due to the requirements of the function a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.
