This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and motivated researcher with practice of using large database for research, to join the Centre for Academic Primary Care in carrying out research aimed at assessing the associations between lithium use, and the long-term risk of dementia.
The purpose of this function will be to undertake supervised research involving use of anonymised electronic routine primary care records from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) to assess the long-term risk of dementia connected with use of lithium prescribed for the treatment of mental health conditions in older adults. The appointed candidate will be responsible for managing the CPRD dataset, conducting statistical analyses in conformity with the research protocol, working in conjunction with others in the research team to achieve objectives and deadlines of the research project, writing up results for publication, and leading other dissemination activities.
You will work in a study team with Dr Barbara Iyen, Professor Carol Coupland and Professor Tony Avery in the Centre for Academic Primary Care, as well as Professor Martin Orrell in the Institute of Mental Health. The Centre for Academic Primary Care has a number of continuing national and international research collaborations, so you will have the opportunity to use the initiative and creativity of peers and senior colleagues to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend the research portfolio of the team.
This is a part-time (14.5 hours per week) fixed-term post available for 10 months.
