Applications for the post are welcome in any research areas in Applied Mathematics (broadly construed and including integrable systems and mathematical physics), that complement and/or make links between the existing strengths within the School. The post-holder will develop, lead and sustain research of international standard in Applied Mathematics; contribute to teaching, assessment, project supervision and curriculum design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and participate in School management and organisation.

The School of Mathematics & Statistics is the home of the Mathematical Sciences within the University of Glasgow. It is one of the six Schools which constitute the College of Science and Engineering, which in turn is one of the four Colleges within the University. The School is large, growing and diverse. It offers full undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at all levels and it undertakes research of high international standard. We have research groups of international excellence in all three of the main areas of the subject, traditionally described as pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics, although we increasingly have research activity which blurs these descriptions. The School has over 70 academic staff across pure and applied mathematics, and statistics, together with over 100 PhD students, 25 research adjuncts and is supported by 20 student support, administrative, and IT staff. we At Presenthave 3 Rankin-Sneddon Research Fellows, in addition to various externally funded fellowship positions.
