This post is an ideal opportunity for someone who is GMC registered and wishes to continue their leadership abilities development of educational insight and capcapability.
The post holder will supervise the clinical educator pool at an operational level, ensuring rotas are completed and everyday as well as longitudinal tasks are undertaken across the pool of clinical educators. The post holder will interview and recruit new clinical educators to the team as required through liaison with local education providers, the curriculum team and the Phase 1 lead.
When required on the rota, the post holders will act as a clinical educator to work with the unit leads in planning and delivering all aspects of undergraduate medical education in Phase 1 of the curriculum in a variety of different methods. However, the post-holder will be supernumerary if the rota is full and released to complete their leadership abilities activities.
The primary function of the clinical educators is to support the unit leads in delivering group work sessions, to act as group work facilitators and integrate biomedical science in a clinical context for the students' learning in the early years. Secondary to this function is a varied number of additional tasks which the clinical educators may be required to participate in depending on when opportunities arise. These include:
   » Exam question writing, review and marking
   » OSCE writing, review and assessing
   » Filming videos for clinical expertise foundation course, selection stations, OSCE training
   » Student selection assessing
   » Participating in open days to showcase our clinical expertise facilities and talk to prospective students
   » Review and development of teaching materials, including question and model answer writing
   » Delivery of revision sessions (to include both written and OSCE revision)
   » Student Selection Component supervision
   » Personal tutor mentorship for students
   » Involvement in Quality Improvement projects in the faculty
From time to time, there may be additional tasks set at the discretion of the senior leadership abilities team.
ESSENTIAL:
Postgraduate doctor - degree in Medicine.
Current GMC registration with licence to practice with a minimum of 2 years postgraduate practice.
A minimum of 1 year in-post as a clinical educator at the University of Buckingham Medical School.
PG Cert MedEd qualification.
Enthusiasm for all aspects of Medical Education.
Proven capability to establish good relationships with Faculty colleagues and students.
Excellent team working expertise.
Effective communication expertise.
Pro-active approach to autonomous working.
Creative and rational approaches to tasks.
Logical rational thinking.
Proficient in MS Office/365.
Right to Work in the UK
DESIRABLE:
leadership abilities in healthcare education.
Evidence of mentorship of students.
Evidence of involvement in curriculum development.
