FTE: 1.0 fte Duration of Contract: Permanent income: UH6 £31,396pa to £33,966pa with potential to progress to £37,099pa by annual increments on achieving designated expertise and practice Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year Job location: de Havilland Campus, Hatfield Hertfordshire Business School (HBS) wishes to appoint a Student Success Project agent within the Student Success Team, which aims to enable underrepresented students to progress and succeed. This will include dealing with student enquiries, providing advice, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on student progress.As 64% of our Home undergraduate student demographic identify as Black, Asian or minority ethnic, and our male students practice higher non-continuation rates and lower degree awarding than their female counterparts we are particularly encouraging applications from candidates with affinity to the lived practice of our Black and Asian male students. Main tasks and responsibilities The Student Success Project agent will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential student records as well as reporting on student progress from various data sources. The prosperous applicant will have the opportunity to co-ordinate and organise events such as student social activities. You'll focus on building student ?belonging', and a sense of community, with an open and approachable attitude. A large aspect of this function involves encouraging students to connect to opportunities, advising students on their academic progress and aspects of student life such as: time management, seeking support from tutors, using university learning systems and navigating university regulations.You will also be responsible for the line management of the Student Success placement student. expertise and practice required Due to the student-facing aspect of this function it is essential that you have proven practice of supporting students with pastoral and academic-related issues, with particular regard to reducing the race and ethnicity awarding gaps in a Higher Education environment. We are seeking for a candidate who is skilled in active listening with strong written and oral communication expertise, as well as excellent problem solving, organization and planning, and IT expertise. Applications are particularly welcome from individuals who possess an aptitude for report writing and data monitoring and who demonstrate commitment for delivering a personalised level of support for Black, Asian and minority ethnic students.Proven practice of supporting students with pastoral and academic-related issues is essential. Qualifications required The appointee will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in significant discipline, or equivalent practice.
