The University of Plymouth, a leading University in the South West, is seeking to recruit an Electrical Systems Manager to work as part of our Estates team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University in a beautiful location, where you can really make a difference.
Estates and Facilities have exciting and ambitious plans for the development of the University Estate. The ?Master Plan' includes the recently opened landmark InterCity place; an 11 story building overlooking Plymouth Railway Station, and a new Engineering and Design Facility on the western edge of the main Plymouth campus. We are seeking for an Electrical Systems Manager to join the team and be an integral part of managing and maintaining our evolving estate.
The University is a multi-site operation with a sizeable proportion of its activities taking place on or close to the main campus in Plymouth, which is where this function is located. This will be a site-located function, where, as the electrical systems manager, you will take responsibility for the Universities electrical systems and its connected assets, policies, processes and safe systems of work.
A major focus of the function is on planned and reactive maintenance works, where you will manage multiple contractors. This includes, but is not limited to lighting, power, fire alarms, lifts, generators, access control and portable appliance testing.
The Electrical Systems Manager will form an integral part of the Estates team and will ensure that maintenance and project works are compliant with appropriate legislation and regulations.
You will require a thorough knowledge, knowledge and practice of Electrical Systems.
The essential qualification and training requirements are:
   » Qualified in Engineering (NVQ Level 3) / Apprentice trained with an Electrical bias, and/or educational attainment at further education level or above (e.g. HNC) and/or demonstrable equivalent practice in a significant electrical bias engineering discipline (Essential)
   » 18th Edition BS7671, City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent Test and Inspection knowledge (Essential)
The following is desirable:
   » Member of a professional engineering body such as Institute of Engineering and Technology, Institute of Plant Engineers or CIBSE. (Desirable)
You will have excellent people expertise, with a availability to engage with customers in order to provide solutions and assurance. You will be comfortable at making decisions, well organised, and driven. You must be a team player.
