London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Strength of Materials and Structures Technician for our Technical Support Services division (TSS). Purpose of the Post: The purpose of this post is to provide dedicated technical support in the Structures and Strength of Materials, and the Mechanics of Machines laboratories. The post holder will actively assist with and contribute to the delivery of practical sessions across these areas, including superviseing lab-located experiments, demonstrating investigative technologies, and providing guidance with individual projects, and other experimental activities. These laboratories support a rich vein of earnings generating activities and the post holder will work alongside academics and technical colleagues in the design, development, and delivery of a wide variety of research and enterprise projects. This position will provide the prosperous candidate with the opportunity to actively assist with and contribute to the delivery of practical sessions across these areas, including superviseing lab-located experiments, demonstrating investigative technologies, and providing guidance with individual projects, and a variety of research and enterprise projects. About You: We are seeking to hear from candidates who have a comprehensive working expertise of: » The setup, use and configuration of universal testing machines for a variety of investigative applications. » The testing and evaluation of materials and structures using a variety of contact/non-contact investigative techniques. » Data acquisition techniques connected with (including setup and configuration) in relation the testing and evaluation of materials and structures. The ideal candidate will be degree educated, preferably a PhD, be highly motivated and bring practice of working in a mechanical engineering or closely related technical discipline.
