Annual Leave: 35 days pro-rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas and New Year
Main tasks and responsibilities
You will undertake teaching, learning and assessment, including module leadership abilities within our dermatology and/or skin lesion management short courses and programmes. You will design engaging teaching activities, set and mark formative and summative assessments, which support student learning whilst providing constructive student feedback and evaluation, act as a project manager, and as a personal tutor to students. You will identify areas where current provision needs revision or improvement, developing new teaching materials to ensure the curriculum maintains currency, particularly regarding clinical issues, and you will contribute to the planning, design and development of aims, objectives and learning results on appropriate programmes. Maintenance of scholarly and/or research activity is strongly encouraged and supported.
expertise and practice
You will have substantial proven post-qualifying clinical practice in dermatology and/or skin cancer with evidence of current clinical practice, including dermatology and/or skin cancer. You will have practice of collaborative working in multidisciplinary settings eg community, hospital or primary care, and have practice of public speaking and/or teaching and/or running courses.
You must possess breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in dermatology and/or skin lesions and skin cancer to develop teaching, and have knowledge and knowledge of UK national guidance in relation to dermatology and/or skin lesions and skin cancer. An appreciation and knowledge of the educational needs of students, an knowledge of students' prior learning practices and how these might influence their current educational expectations, cultural consciousness, and an capability to contribute to curriculum development are essential. You must have a proven capability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a variety of audiences, a proficiency in English Language, excellent written and verbal communication expertise, good interpersonal expertise with capability to create excellent working relationships, and an capability to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues.
You will possess capability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities, capability to work effectively on your own initiative and as part of a team, excellent organisational and planning expertise, and excellent IT expertise. You must be able to act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff, be flexible and adaptable to workload and team requirements, possess a commitment to reflective practice with evidence of Continuing Professional Development, and a commitment to issues related to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a significant discipline and a postgraduate qualification i.e., Masters and/or PhD (completed or close to completion, e.g. has submitted final thesis) in Dermatology and/or Skin Lesion Management or significant practice, or an appropriate qualification at first degree. Membership of the significant UK regulatory/professional body (either a doctor or nurse).
An appointment to this function may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.
