The primary function of the Head of Digital Education is to lead a team to facilitate the engagement and support of institutional digital education tools used in teaching, learning and assessment across the University.

The postholder will promote the art of the possible in digital education through the development of external networks that identify emerging best practice. The function will also act as Business Partner for Digital Education to promote knowledge and collaboration across the University.

Reporting to the adjunct Director Digital Education in Libraries and Learning Resources, the postholder will be a member of the Digital Education leadership abilities team along with other College located Heads of Digital Education and the wider team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, practice
General:
   » Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus significant significant practical practice and skills in a series of progressively more demanding functions will be required.
   » In-depth knowledge of Digital Education in the context of higher education and professional development.
   » practice of championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in own work area.
   » capability to identify issues with the potential to impact on protected groups and take appropriate action.
Digital suitable education
   » Detailed knowledge of how Virtual Learning Environments (such as Canvas) and other connected systems can be used to support teaching and learning, including an consciousness of the interopercapability of platforms within a digital ecosystem.
   » practice of product ownership, engagement of product roadmaps and implementing KPI metrics to measure the value and impact of software products within the University's Digital Education ecosystem.
   » practice of relationship management of external product suppliers to leverage the use of appropriate technology to support the University's education provision.
   » An knowledge of productisation and the development requirements of on evolving and expanding integrated Digital Education ecosystem that addresses the needs of our future student practice.
   » An knowledge of backlog process implementation, practice of middleware integration software developments and connected enhancement developments.
   » Excellent knowledge of, and confidence with, complex IT systems and multimedia content creation. A comprehensive knowledge of the Microsoft suite of tools and the capability to quickly lgain new IT skills and software packages.
People Management:
   » practice of prioritising and allocating available resources to achieve well-defined targets.
   » Strong influencing and communication skills, including presentation skills, and an open approach to collaboration within and across multidisciplinary teams.
   » Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to lead and motivate a team of staff as well as to work a part of a wider team.
Project Management:
   » Demonstrable practice of managing projects simultaneously and delivering to deadline and within budget.
   » Excellent problem-solving skills and be willing to bring creativity, innovation, and a flexible approach.
   » capability to identify whether decisions will have an adverse impact on a particular group and to take appropriate action.
