Working with Professor Phil Ashworth, together with the EvoFlood (evoflood.co.uk) team, and in particular Professor Stephen Darby (Southampton) and Professor Andy Tatem (Director of WorldPop, Southampton), you will advance the science of predicting global flood hazard and risk.
In particular, you will integrate global population datasets, Global Flood Modelling (GFM) predictions and satellite imagery of flooded regions to quantify impacted populations from documented and simulated floods, population displacement from floods in cross-nation catchments, flood hazard and exposure of at-risk populations and assets, and future mobility in response to climate and enironmental change. You will contact with 10 other UK universities in the EvoFlood consortium, other RFs working on related work packages and an international group of end-users and community partners.
The function is located in the vibrant School of Applied Sciences and is part of the £3.6m NERC-funded, 5-year, EvoFlood project. The project offers excellent support for conference attendance and team integrative events.
We welcome applications from job sharers.
