This is a brand-new and exciting function within PNDC that will research, develop, test and demonstrate protection, automation and control technologies as part of the PNDC R&D Team, in its unique, world-class industry-scale facility.
The prosperous candidate will work as part of a growing dynamic R&D team on a wide variety of technical projects with particular emphasis on experimental validation and testing. Opportunities for innovation are broad, through the strong working relationship and routes to market afforded by the PNDC industry members, and commercial engagements. This will be supplemented with collaborative opportunities with other research and industry teams in the UK and abroad.
To be considered for the function, you will:
   » Possess the expertise, expertise and practice normally connected with a PhD, or you will have an excellent honours degree in electrical engineering coupled with significant industrial research practice.
   » Have practice of the delivery of research and development projects in collaboration with industry or within an industrial context.
   » Have hands on practice in designing, implementing and testing protection schemes enabling the secure and resilient supply of electricity.
   » Demonstrate excellent technical writing capability and strong communication expertise.
   » Be a self-starter, and able to plan and conduct individual research and expertise exchange activities in a structured fashion, as well as generate new ideas and concepts, and the capacity to work in a dynamically changing team environment.

The program includes a number of innovation themes within each area as well as whole energy system innovation across power networks, heat and transport.
