Job Opportunity: Research Fellow:Job description:Job location: Birmingham Job location: Birmingham Contract Type: Fixed Term contract up to July 2026 Background We are recruiting a full-time Research Fellow for two years to work on a Nuffield Foundation-funded research project on Pupil School Mobility in England. The project will use mixed methods to explore different types and pathways of pupil school mobility and their implications for education. more information about the project can be found here: https://www.nuffieldfoundation.org/project/pupil-school-mobility-types-path ways-and-implications-for-education The Research Fellow will work with the PI, Dr Clara Rübner Jørgensen (University of Birmingham) and Co-I's Dr Laurence Lessard-Phillips (University of Birmingham) and Dr Thomas Perry (University of Warwick) to conduct research activities, disseminate project findings and engage in impact activities. The post holder will have a central function in the research and be expected to take an active part in all elements of the project. This will include Assume the responsibility certain aspects of the research, in particular in relation to the qualitative elements of the project, with specific tasks including for Main tasks » Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as literature reviews, focus groups and research interviews » Undertake management/administration arising from research » Analyse and interpret data » Apply knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual knowledge » Contribute to Departmental/School/Project research-related activities and administration » Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader » Contributing to and presenting research outputs, including reports, briefings, conferences, seminars and peer reviewed publications. » Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines » Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a function model and fostering an inclusive working culture. Person Specification » First degree and normally, a higher degree significant to research area or equivalent qualifications.
