Research adjunct at the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology:Job description:Job location: London Job description Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research adjunct to work within the MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders, developing the human post-mortem tissue resource. This resource aims to expand and collect clinically phenotyped samples for use by the local and wider research community. As a member of the team, the post-holder will be working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinical staff from both KCL and GSTT, alongside different project partners. They will provide logistical, technical and organisational support for the generation and maintenance of human clinical samples that adhere to both Guys and St Thomas (GSTT) NHS Trust governance and Human Tissue Act (HTA) guidelines. They will be responsible for both the scientific support of the tissue resource and the co-ordination of sample collection, data management and tissue processing and storage. The post-holder would also be expected to have an active function in existing research studies and in the development of new research. They will be highly motivated, approachable and able to proactively contact with a variety of professional figures within both King's College London and the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust. candidates should have a strong background in clinical and/or neuroscience research. practice with human tissue work and HTA compliance are essential. Candidates should be motivated, a team-player and be able to work on their own initiative.The candidate will benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities and the intellectual environment and interactive culture of the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences and St Thomas Hospital. This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 24 months. This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent. Key responsibilities » Day to day running of the human fetal and neonatal post-mortem brain tissue resource » Collect, prepare and store clinical / patient neurosurgery human samples » Assist with the generation, maintenance and review of Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments, Ethics applications, Material Transfer Agreements and Laboratory Protocols » Assist in preparing requests for tissue from researchers both locally and internationally » Assist with sample preparation and processing, including frozen tissue. » Assist with experiments, microscopy imaging and analysis. » Maintain and provide detailed records of data generated and connected analysis and ensure compliance with Home Office, HTA and other regulatory requirements for record keeping The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
